In hindsight, we should have realized we were stepping in to a special place, a business devoted to spiritual growth...
You have a blessing, or that’s how you feel when you walk in to YOGASMOGA on Greenwich Avenue as we did last night at a champagne and goodies Open House hosted by Allie Porter and Angela Faria. Beginning with the doorway to the upstairs yoga and meditation to the main entrance with the YOGASMOGA emblazoned loga, there is an ambiance of welcome and peace.
In hindsight, we should have realized we were stepping in to a special place, a business devoted to spiritual growth. Running a bit late, he one parking space available was literally at their front door, We did say: “Thank you, God,” and walked in. A delight from the moment we stepped inside.
What we learned chatting with Allie Porter, Angela Faria, and other staff: YOGASMOGA is a pyrrhic phoenix rising from the ashes of the Wall Street burn out of brother and sister Rishi and Tapaysa Bali. YOGASMOGA was born as an online business with trademarked fabric that emulates cotton. YOGASMOGA’s black is the deepest black in the industry.
The first bricks and mortar, boots on the ground or perhaps feet on the ground, was in Brentwood, California. Our store, our YOGASMOGA, here in Greenwich was its second retail outlet. There will be 16 in all in rapid succession in communities like Westport, Boston, and White Plains at the Westchester Mall.
Rishi and Tapaysa are Indian and share a passion for yoga, spiritual growth, and giving back to and being part of each community.
Allie Porter, for example, is an incoming Sustainer Member of the Junior League of Greenwich. Proceeds of Namaskap Foundation products, bracelets handmade by women in India, are given to charity.
The piece de resistance: free yoga and meditation classes in the YOGASMOGA studio on the second.
