  • Women, Business and the Law

    Women, Business and the Law measures how laws, regulations and institutions differentiate between women and men in ways that may affect women’s incentives or capacity to work or to set up and run a business.   • Enabling the Business of Agriculture

    Enabling the Business of Agriculture (EBA) focuses on identifying and monitoring regulations and policies that affect agriculture and agribusiness markets. The project aims to inform and encourage policy decisions that support inclusive participation in agricultural value chains and foster an environment that is conducive to local and regional business in agriculture. Six core topics were selected for the project's pilot phase: land, finance, seed, fertilizer, transport and markets. Three other topics have been identified for initial testing: contract farming, rural electrification, information and communication technology. Several others will be tackled in year 2 of the project’s implementation: agricultural mechanization, livestock, environmental sustainability, gender issues and access to water resources.

  • Benchmarking Public Procurement

    Benchmarking Public Procurement (BPP) measures transaction costs imposed by public procurement regulations and practices worldwide. It aims to support and enhance policy decision-making by providing cross-country comparison of public procurement laws, regulations and related practices in three policy areas: (1) bidding for a public procurement tender (assessing the ease of accessing public procurement opportunities and submitting a bid from the standpoint of a private sector supplier); (2) filing a complaint (analyzing the process to challenge a public procurement tender through a complaint system); and (3) integrity of public procurement systems (measuring the legal safeguards that come into play throughout the procurement process in order to guarantee the fair and equal treatment of bidders).

    FDI Regulations Database compares regulation of foreign direct investment around the world. It presents quantitative indicators on economies' laws, regulations, and practices affecting how foreign companies invest across sectors, start businesses, hire skilled expatriates, convert and transfer currencies, and arbitrate commercial disputes.
